Born in Liverpool in 1947, Joe first met Footsbarn when he worked for a music group based in the same community.
He joined FB as an actor in 1972, playing one of the court mucisians in Tristan. His first speaking part was in Master Patalan his Farce in 1973. From the on he appeared in over 50 new productions, playing more then 200 roles. In those days acting was not the only skill required, one also needed to drive trucks, set up tents, stages etc.
Among the many roles he has performed (every actor/actress played several parts in each show) are Friar Tuck in Robin Hood, Macduff in Macbeth, The Devil in Babylon, Prospero in the Tempest and Oberon in a Midsummer Night´s Dream. He also plays drums and percussion
He is married to Marianne Prins, they have a house in Portugal where he spends his free time gardening.
